The Conseil Intermunicipale de Transport Sorel-Varennes (CIT Sorel-Varennes or CITSV) is a transit operator serving the municipality of Sorel-Tracy and surrounding towns. Like [[CIT Le Richelain]], they are run under contract by [[Autobus La Québecoise]].

The CIT Sorel-Varennes was formed in December of 1984, along with various other CIT Systems in order to have a focused local service. The service was contracted to Autobus Deshaies Ltée who operated the contract until December 11th, 1988.

The Conseil Intermunicipal de Transport Sorel-Varennes provides public transportation services for the towns of Varennes, Saint-Amable, Verchères, Contrecoeur, Saint-Roch-de-Richelieu, Saint-Joseph-de-Sorel and Sorel-Tracy.

History

The CIT Sorel-Varennes was formed in December of 1984, along with various other CIT Systems in order to have a focused local service. The service was contracted to Autobus Deshaies Ltée who operated the contract until December 11th, 1988.

On December 12th, 1988 the contract was awarded to Autobus Léo Auger Inc, a Private operator based in Châteauguay, Québec. Autobus Léo Auger Inc, operated the service until December 31st, 1991.

On January 1st, 1992 the contract was awarded to Autobus La Québecoise, who became the longest operator for CIT Sorel-Varennes, operating the contract until December 31st, 2011.

On August 18th, 1998 CIT Sorel-Varennes absorbed the municipally run service in the City of St-Amable.

On January 1st, 2012 the service was awarded to Le Groupe Transbus of Châteauguay, Québec.
