Some exceptions are if a route, or a portion of the route is operating during certain periods, it will have stripes on the bus stop flag. All green routes travel towards Downtown Ottawa in the AM rush, and towards the suburbs in the PM rush. Most green routes travel to suburban areas and some travel to rural areas. Rural express routes are identified by an R after the route number on the bus stop flag.
  • The fare on Green routes is 4,65$ or 3 tickets, OC Transpo has removed the rural express fare.

Transitway

The Transitway is a bus rapid transit system that uses a bus only dedicated lane. Conception of this bus rapid transit system started in 1978. The first portion was opened from Lees to Hurdman and from Lincoln Fields and Baseline in 1983. In 1984, 3 new stations were added to the Transitway; LeBreton, Tunney's Pasture and Westboro along with a new portion of the Transitway opened between LeBreton and the Ottawa River Parkway, which was renamed to Dominion Station.

In 1987, the Transitway between Hurdman and St-Laurent stations, including the tunnel below the St-Laurent Shopping Centre. Route 95 saw its frequency increased to 4 minutes at Rush Hours and to 5 minutes at all other times. The whole Transitway was completed in 1996.
