Hamilton Street Railway is the main provider of transportation to the residents of Hamilton, Ontario.

History

Hamilton Street Railway was founded as a private operation in 1873 owned by Lyman Moore and operated as such until 1889. It was later purchased by Hamilton Cataract Interests which later became Dominion Power and Transmission Company followed by Ontario Hydro.

In 1946, Hamilton Street Railway was no longer under provincial ownership and was bough Canada Coach Lines. Canada Coach Lines was later purchased by the city of Hamiltion and to date still owns and operates Hamilton Street Railway.
