VIVA Route Purple is a bus rapid transit route operating in the Region of York, a suburb north of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Route Purple, internally known as Route 603 has 2 branches and uses both 40ft buses (Van Hool New A330) and 60ft Articulated buses (Van Hool New AG300, Nova Bus LFX Artic and Nova Bus LFS Artic).

History

Route Purple started operation of September 4th, 2005 at the launch of the VIVA service.

  • Between September 4th, 2005 and October 16th, 2005, the routes was from York University to Town Centre Terminal.
  • Between October 16th, 2005 and November 21st, 2005 the routes now operated from York University to McCowan Terminal.
  • The route was later extended to Markham-Stouffville Hospital
